Another prominent rights defender has been arrested in Azerbaijan.
BERLIN. July 31, 2014(HRW Press Release): Azerbaijani authorities should immediately secure the release of leading human rights defender Leyla Yunus from pretrial custody, and drop the politically motivated charges against her and her husband Arif Yunus. The authorities should also end their ongoing harassment against the couple.
Today the Ilham Aliyev regime in Azerbaijan arrested the prominent human rights activist Leyla Yunus and charged her with high treason.
Youth activist of the party "Musavat" Faraj Kerimli, arrested on charges of illegal possession and sale of drugs, considers himself innocent. Kerimli himself told about it the head of the Committee against Torture Elchin Behbudov, who visited the activist on Saturday in the Chief Directorate to Combat Organized Crime (CDCOC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in monitoring places of this agency.
